This project originated from the Robotics Minor at the Technical University of Delft. We were one of the eight groups to build a robot in five months. We were asked to make a robot for the automation of twist-lock handling in the harbor. With the guidance and expertise from the minor, we eventually made a working prototype.
Instead of thinking in large solutions, we came up with a smaller, more efficiënt solution. A fleet of our Twistbots can identify and locate twistlocks, position themselves under each corner of a container and manipulate twistlocks to remove or attach them. This solution leads to a decrease in accidents and operation costs and increases productivity.
